Summer tour 2021

IN ASSOCIATION WITH

THE SHOWS
This summer, join Scoot for our outdoor, family-friendly, sixty-minute productions of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘The Comedy of Errors’!

Touring (mainly) cricket clubs in the South East, six actor-musicians present two of Shakespeare’s favourite comedies, with a Scoot ‘spin’!
Get ready for confusion, chaos and costume changes!
Whether you’re 5 or 105, a Shakespeare newcomer or a Bard aficionado – we’ve got something for everyone! So bring a picnic blanket, enjoy the hospitality of your local cricket club and let us entertain you.
HOWZAT!?

"The course of true love never did run smooth..."

Hermia loves Lysander. Lysander loves Hermia. But Demetrius loves Hermia. And Helena loves Demetrius.
They all run into the woods where the mischievous sprite Puck has plenty of tricks in store for them! Meanwhile, the local cricket team is getting together to rehearse a play…
Expect music, magic, and cricket bat sword fights!
“I loved it” THE TELEGRAPH
“Hilarious…accessible for all ages” THE FAMILY STAGE

"I to the world am like a drop of water
That in the ocean seeks another drop"

Two sets of long lost twins. Finally in the same city. They just don’t know it! Separated in childhood, Antipholus of Syracuse is travelling the globe in search of his twin brother. He defies the law by entering the mysterious city of Ephesus, where all Syracusians are banned. Things quickly get spooky when everyone he meets in Ephesus seems to know who he is…
Let the confusion and chaos commence!
Expect madness, mistaken identities and slapstick in Shakespeare’s classic farce!
About Scoot
Scoot was formed last year to tour high quality, professional theatre to non-traditional spaces. Last summer our two-week tour of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ was seen by 2500 people and picked up a 4 star review in The Telegraph.
We are a community-focused company, aiming to add value in the places we work.
We hope you’ll join us for a chat after the performance.
We’ll be offering a very informal Question and Answer session after each show.
This is for anyone who might want to know more about the plays, Shakespeare or theatre in general. It’s completely voluntary of course but we’d love to hear your thoughts, reactions and maybe find out what you’d like to see us do next!

Can I bring a chair?
Please do!
You're welcome to bring picnic chairs and blankets. Seating areas are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis on the day.
Can I buy tickets on the Door?
All tickets must be purchased in advance.
Do I have to stay for the chat at the end?
Of course not! We’d love it if you did!
Let's talk about the weather...
Part of the fun of outdoor performances is embracing the Great British Weather! In our experience we’d say it's best to come prepared for all types. There is the possibility that we may have to stop and re-start the show and we will do everything we can to get to the end of the performance! Trust us – after the last year everyone has had – our actors are keen to perform!
On very rare occasions, it may not be possible for us to complete the performance (this only happened once last year – so we rearranged the date). But, we will never cancel a performance before the advertised start time. We know from experience how quickly bad weather can clear up and give us the perfect gap for our sixty-minute show!
Unfortunately, as with most outdoor companies, we are unable to offer a refund in the event of a cancellation due to the weather, however, we will endeavour to rearrange a new date for the performance at the same venue and you will be entitled to exchange your ticket to that new date. If you are unable to make this date or we are unable to rearrange, then you will be entitled to exchange your ticket for a performance at any other cricket club venue on our tour list.
The best way to do this is to contact us at scoottheatreuk@gmail.com, stating your original booking order number, name and preferred date and venue you wish to exchange to.
Updated Covid Protocols
Following the government’s decision to release restrictions on Monday 19 July, we have updated our Covid protocols accordingly. We are aware we no longer need to enforce a number of these by law, but we are keen to ensure that safety is our top priority, particularly during this time when some people may not feel confident jumping straight back to ‘normal’.
Our safety measures include:
The fact we are an outdoor event.
We will be distancing groups by 1m. There is flexibility within the audience space, so that if you wish to sit further from
others then this is possible.
Face coverings will be optional. You are very welcome to wear one should you so wish, particularly in the clubhouse/indoor spaces.
Hand sanitiser stations will be available.
All tickets are E-tickets.
There will be regular cleaning of toilet and bar areas.
Contactless payment is available for food/drink. However, all tickets should be purchased in advance.
What about accessibility?
If you would like to know more about access at a particular venue, or would like to make us aware of your specific requirements, please do get in touch either via scoottheatreuk@gmail.com or any of the options on our Contact Page
What if Government COVID-19 policy changes and makes performances impossible?
In this case all tickets are refundable or transferable to future dates.
