THE SHOWS
SCOOT THEATRE

Scoot Youth exists to empower young people: a youth theatre that gives teenagers the space to tell the stories important to them – to have their voices heard and understood.
Scoot Youth is an open, inclusive environment for all young people between the ages of 11-19.
There is no requirement for any previous acting experience - members must simply be willing to engage with the company’s three rules:

IN ASSOCIATION WITH

Working with professional theatre-makers, the company devises performances over ten-week ‘blocks,’ meeting once a week on Saturday mornings.
The company explores not only the practical skills needed to be an honest, open communicator but also the importance of mindset. We practice grit and resilience and celebrate the value of a “growth mindset” through our devising work.
Not only do we train excellent performers, but we also help nurture confident, resilient young people, committed to making a positive impact on the world around them.

Scoot Youth is based at the The Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton-On-Thames and sessions are run by SCOOT THEATRE Artistic Director, Max Hutchinson.
Max is a professional actor and director and is currently starring in the long-running West End production of The Woman in Black.

Max set up Scoot Theatre in 2020 in association with Riverhouse Barn to get people together again and watching live theatre after the first lockdown. Scoot’s first sixty-minute, family-friendly production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ toured local cricket clubs and gained both regional and national attention, with The Telegraph giving the show a 4-star review ( you can read more here).
Since then, Scoot have produced ‘A Christmas Carol’ at East Molesey Cricket Club, toured 21 different venues in summer 2022 with ‘The Comedy of Errors’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, as well as producing a series of West End Musical Concerts.
This year Scoot will be teaming up with Farnham Maltings to tour the Southeast with more cricket club Shakespeare!
